This 4-week advanced sculpting workshop is designed for potters who already have experience working with clay and are eager to explore the expressive world of figurative sculpture.

Together, with sculpture Esteè Hanekom, we will dive deeper into the art of sculpting the human bust, learning how to build strong forms, capture character, and work confidently at a larger sculptural scale.

A key focus of this course is learning how to design and build your own armature to support a clay sculpture.



With the right internal structure in place, you will be able to sculpt with freedom while maintaining stability and proportion.


Throughout the workshop you will explore:

• How to design and construct a supportive armature
• Building the bust form using solid sculpting techniques
• Understanding proportion and facial structure
• Developing expression and personality in your sculpture
• Refining surface details and sculptural textures
• Preparing your piece for drying and firing


Over the four weeks you will gradually develop your own unique bust sculpture, guided step-by-step through both the technical and artistic processes.

This workshop is ideal for students who have completed beginner or intermediate sculpting classes and are ready to expand further into sculptural clay work.


Package includes:

 3 hours tutorial time per week

6 hours per week of additional solo time

Excludes clay ( R75 per kg) and glazing
